Before reading further, please make sure that you've gone over the Introduction to Groups article to understand what the Groups are and what concept do they bring to the Testlio Platform.
Understanding Groups
Testlio Admins and Coordinator roles are now able to organize Testlio Network freelancer testers into Groups. Groups are built based on the testing criteria & recommendation algorithm.
What are the testing criteria?
Testing criteria are the conditions or requirements that need to be met for the testing. Usually, it is our Coordinator users who make sure that the requirements are met. Testing requirements can be different - it can be a specific device range, location-based testing, language, skill, etc.
What is a recommendation algorithm?
The recommendation algorithm comes to play when the testing criteria are set and the user needs to allocate resources based on these criteria. This is when our new recommendation algorithm takes place. It takes into account the criteria set by the user as well as other additional parameters. The goal of the recommendation algorithm is to find the right set of resources & allow the Coordinator to build a balanced Group where everyone has a chance to be part of.
How does this all impact me as a Tester?
Groups are directly tied to your Profile. We expose your Profile when recommending testers to our Coordinators. This is why it is important to keep your Profile up to date and to make sure it is reflecting various characteristics about you. Your skills, your interests, your location, the languages you speak, the networks you use - everything you bring, is important. Keeping your Profile up to date increases your chances to become part of different Groups.
Important notes
It is important to note, that the first release of Groups is internal at first - Testlio and Network Organizations are impacted only, which means that at first, you might not feel the impact of Profiles & Groups collaboration right away. Don't worry, we plan to make it also available to our Clients approximately in a month and therefore expand the knowledge of Groups.
