Will I be paid for earning the Functional Regression Testing Certification and participating in the Simika Run?

Participating in the Simika Run to earn your Functional Regression Testing Certification is not compensated. It is a certification that manual testers need to pass in order to be eligible for workspaces where functional regression testing is required.

In some workspaces, the Functional Regression Testing Certification may not be required. If you’re invited to participate in such a workspace, feel free to accept the invitation. You will be compensated for your participation.

What is the time zone of the slot mentioned in the booking form?

The time of the slot in the booking form is specified in the GMT+3 time zone. You need to convert it to your time zone during the booking process to ensure it suits your schedule. Once you receive an invitation to the run via a separate email, the exact time of the run in your time zone will be provided.

What is the wait time for a second chance at the Functional Regression Testing Certification?

The wait time for a second chance at the FTRC depends on the reason the first chance was not successful:

  • Reasons with a wait of 2 months:

    • Candidate didn't find all issues.

    • Candidate didn't complete the assignment.

    • Candidate issue reporting skills were not good enough.

    • Candidate didn't follow the instructions.

    • Candidate didn't mark all steps correctly (includes raising invalid or out-of-scope issues).

    • Candidate’s submission did not demonstrate a clear understanding of the task requirements.

    • Candidate didn't follow the sign-up guide correctly: working preferences weren't set properly to send an invite.

    • Candidate didn't follow the sign-up guide correctly: the necessary device & OS combination wasn't available on the device list to send an invite.

  • Reasons with a wait of 4 months:

    • Candidate didn't answer the invite.

    • Candidate didn't answer the second chance email.

  • Reasons with a wait of 6 months:

    • Candidate didn't show up to the run.

  • Reasons with no second chance:

    • Candidate copied the issue report of another candidate.

For any of these reasons with a second chance, you are contacted by email when the time comes for your second chance.

You also get a new chance every year to register for the certification if you failed for any reason other than copying an existing issue report.

Why does each reason lead to failing the Functional Regression Testing Certification?

Each of the reasons for potentially failing the FTRC exists to prevent quality issues in client work. The following list presents the impact from each reason:

  • Not finding all required issues: Missing issues in a real client app affects the quality of the final test results.

  • Not completing the assignment: Testers are expected to complete the work they commit to. Incomplete runs negatively affect final results.

  • Issue reporting skills not meeting Testlio standards: Issue reports must be clear, structured, and include required evidence attachments. Reports that do not meet these standards cannot be accepted.

  • Not following the provided instructions: Following instructions is essential for accurate test execution. Failure to do so impacts result quality.

  • Incorrectly marking test steps (including raising invalid or out-of-scope issues): Test steps must be marked according to the provided instructions and testing results. Incorrect step results or invalid issues decrease trust in the testing output and the product's release readiness.

  • Submission did not demonstrate a clear understanding of the task requirements: The submission lacked sufficient clarity or depth to demonstrate an understanding of the task requirements.

  • Not following the sign-up guide correctly to set availability: If availability isn’t set correctly for the selected time, a run invitation cannot be sent. Invitations are based on availability and device settings.

  • Not following the sign-up guide correctly to have the required device and OS combination: Without the required device and OS combination in a candidates device list, a run invitation cannot be sent. Invitations are based on availability and device settings.

  • Not responding to the run invite: Confirming participation with a “Yes” or “No” is required. Invitations are essential for accurate testing planning.

  • Not responding to the second chance email: A response to the second-chance (issue improvement request) invitation is required. Timely confirmation is necessary for proper run planning.

  • Not showing up to the run: After confirming participation with a “Yes”, attendance is expected. Not showing up negatively impacts both Testlio and its customers.

  • Copying the existing issue report of another candidate: The certification requires independent issue reporting. Copying another candidate’s report shows a lack of original analysis and reporting skills.

What is the scope of the Functional Regression Testing Certification?

The scope of the Functional Regression Testing Certification is to follow the exact steps as described in the task. This is not exploratory testing certification and you simply need to follow the test steps to test the described features in the Simika app. If you start exploring the app, it will take you longer time than the estimated time and it will be out of scope.

What skill level is expected in order to successfully earn the Functional Regression Testing Certification?

Please note that this certification requires good knowledge and skill in functional regression testing capability. If you don't find all the expected issues, you can't earn this capability-specific certification. This certification test aims to give a real workspace experience and missing issues in a real customer workspace is a serious problem that affects multiple stakeholders.

I'm getting Untrusted Enterprise Developer error on attempt to run Simika app on my iOS device. What should I do?

Downloading builds to your phone is an essential skill to be a Tester on the Testlio platform. During testing, you will have to download builds to your phone in the same way. As a tester, you are testing builds that are not publicly released yet.

Make sure to mark Testlio as a trusted developer in your mobile settings before running the app:
Settings -> General -> VPN & Device Management
Click 'Testlio, Inc.‘ -> tap 'Trust Testlio Inc.‘ button -> tap 'Trust'

I was invited to test the app on a device that is no longer available. What should I do?

Once you have been invited to test on a specific device, it cannot be changed in the system, but you can still test the Simika app on any of your mobile devices that are compatible with the app. With that said, please keep in mind that in client workspaces the testers are required to test only on the allocated devices. For this reason, it's recommend to always keep your device list up-to-date.

I updated the device OS version on the platform and now I’m getting a “Device missing” message when trying to start the test. What should I do?

You should never upgrade your device OS or update the version in the platform once you have received and accepted the Run invitation. For the Simika workspace, you can go to your profile and change the device OS version back to the version mentioned in the invite to proceed with testing. However, if it happens in a client workspace, you have to reach out to the testing team to confirm if you can continue testing with the upgraded OS version.

Which devices/OS are compatible with the Simika app?

It is only compatible with mobile devices with Android 8+ and iOS 13+. Please note that invites are only sent to candidates who have one or more of these devices. If you register for the certification but do not have a compatible device, you are not invited.

'Go testing' button is not active, what should I do?

You need first to complete the Device verification step to activate the 'Go testing' button.

What should I do if I get a device mismatch or error during device verification?

As the FTRC workspace does not have Test Leads, you can continue even with device mismatches. Click Update device & continue if there was a mismatch or Ignore collected info if there was an error.

Do not choose either of these options in a client workspace without explicit approval from your Test Lead. Doing otherwise represents a breach of the Freelancer Services Agreement.

I installed the Simika app on my phone, but the application is not working correctly there or Simika app refuses to install. What should I do?

It is possible that due to unpredictable technical issues the application is not working on your device. If you encounter such problems, please try to use a different mobile device compatible with Simika app.

I've been invited to a run. What next?

Test run invitations are sent to the candidates 24 hours before the start time. If you have accepted the test Run invitation, you just need to wait until the start time which you can check in the invitation email.

Once the run becomes active, you simply need to start the test and observe the flow to complete the task. You can go through this tour to check where you can start the Run once it becomes available.

How do I start testing the Simika app?

Once the Run starts on the day for which you booked a slot, you will be able to see an option to start testing under the Test Runs section on the main page of the Simika School Management App workspace.

How/where can I download the Simika app?

Once the run starts, you will be able to download the app from the Build Setup page. You can follow these instructions to download and install the build.

In some cases, the app might not install properly due to your device's settings, memory, or others issues that are not under our control. In such situations, you should try to find a possible solution on the internet or install the app on any other compatible device you might have.

Do I have to complete the test tun within 1.5 hours?

Test runs are available for 24 hours and you can complete the task at your own convenience during this window.

The team estimated the run should take no more than 1.5 hours to complete. It's alright if it takes longer than 1.5 hours for you to complete this task.

However, in paid workspaces, if it takes your more than the allocated time tester to complete a task, you need to inform the testing team so that the team can review the situation and approve more hours if needed.

Why is the Testlio platform misaligned on my phone?

Testlio platform is not fully optimized for the mobile view. Due to this reason, the candidates need to download the build and install the app on a smartphone (the device mentioned in the invitation) and follow the run’s test steps on the smartphone and mark them accordingly (Pass/Fail/UTT) on a desktop view.

Why are the buttons in the Simika app misaligned, making me unable to follow the test?

It is possible that the buttons are misaligned on your device due to your device's screen size and font. If you encounter such problems with the buttons, please try to use a different mobile device with preferably a bigger screen.

When and how will I receive my result?

It takes around 5 business days to evaluate the submitted task and send out the result via email.

I just received my result. Can I get more information about where I made mistakes?

It is not possible to provide additional information about the exact steps where mistakes were made. Each candidate goes through a standard evaluation procedure and a specialized team verifies all steps precisely.

I got an invitation to a run, but I cannot participate. What should I do?

The certification run is estimated to take 1.5 hours to complete and is available for 24 hours. You can take the test during this time window at your own convenience.

If it is not possible, you can decline the request and signup for the test again. Please note that it may take up to 2 weeks for you to receive another invite depending on the queue.

I have forgotten the school/parent/teach account login credentials, can you retrieve them for me?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to retrieve the school login credentials. Due to this reason, it is also mentioned in the instruction to save the credentials as it is not possible to retrieve them at a later stage.

However, if you remember the credentials for any of the accounts (teacher, parent, or school), you can use those to get into the others: log in with that account > Go to the side menu > Switch accounts without the log-in credentials.

I accepted the invitation but I cannot participate in the test anymore.

The only way to change your response once you have accepted it is by sending an email to support@testlio.com or simply writing your request in the Simika Workspace chat.
