Testlio was started by Kristel Kruustük based on her experiences as a professional tester. She is our Chief Testing Officer and—in many ways—the soul of our company. Like her, we at Testlio are uniquely passionate about testing.
We care deeply about our global, expert testing network. Without committed, exceptional testers, Testlio would not exist.
We have recently decided to brand our network the “Testlio Network.” This is meant to convey that our testers are pro-level: the best, most masterful testers in the world. Going forward, we will refer to the network (generally), the Network (formally) and to our network (informally). This is similar to how we warmly reference both testers and TestLions.
We hold the bar very high for our testers. On average, only 3% of applicants are invited into Testlio client workspaces. Continuous performance and feedback metrics allow our testers to evolve their skillsets and deliver ever-improving results to our clients.
We began Testlio with a core philosophy: pay testers by the hour (not by the bug). This produces the best tester experience and the best results for our clients. More than five years later, we continue to stand by this commitment.
From day one, our goal has been to pay testers better-than-market rates. We sometimes miss, but our aspiration is to pay well. To help, we are improving our multi-part algorithm that pays by a combination of role, location, performance, task, and workspace.
We pay approximately 50% of our service-related expenses to our Network. Annually, we make millions of dollars in payments to testing professionals around the world.
Many of our network members are full-time testing professionals with other companies. We recognize their need for flexibility and embrace how they work with us part-time, often during mornings, evenings and on weekends. This aligns with many of our clients’ needs for testing in-between development bursts.

Our clients are some of the world’s largest and fastest-growing app providers. They rely on us to provide testers in dozens of countries, operating in scores of languages, working on an abundance of devices, in precise locations.

We strive for workspace team consistency for our clients. We also actively seek to bring new testers into work, as fresh eyes and perspectives are important. This often leads us to ~ 80/20 structures over time (80% consistent teams, 20% new members).
