One of the variables that our team uses to assign workspaces to freelancers, is devices. In order to not miss out on testing opportunities, it’s important to keep your devices up-to-date and manage them wisely.

In addition, it is essential to have the correct device information on your profile as testing with a device to which one was not invited, even if there is a small difference in the OS version, can lead to missed coverage for our clients. It is a violation of the Freelancer Services Agreement and the misrepresentation of the device information may result in being off-boarded from the Testlio Platform.

How to access the device section?

You can access your device list by clicking your avatar and then the device option.

How to add a new device?

The first step when adding a new device to your account is to make sure that you add it to the correct category. You can add your available devices to the following categories:

  1. Mobile

  2. Tablet

  3. Computers

  4. Gaming consoles (e.g. PS4, Xbox, etc.)

  5. Connected devices (e.g. Smart TVs, Android/Apple TVs, streaming devices (Fire sticks, Roku, Android TV sticks, etc.)

  6. Wearables

How to update the device OS information on the Testlio Platform?

Once you have updated your device OS, you can update the version information in the device section on the Testlio Platform by selecting the new OS from the drop-down list. For example.

Important: Testers always need to participate in runs with the device/OS they were invited for. If you have accepted a run for a specific device/OS version, please do not update it until you have completed the run.

If your device's OS version has been updated/changed automatically after you accepted a run invitation for a different OS version, you need to update the information on the Platform and reach out to the Test Lead (Coordinator) as soon as possible. In this case, the Test Lead will review the situation and might need to remove you from the Run. If it is possible to test with the new OS version, the Test Lead may send out a new invite with the correct OS.

How and why to add Beta operating systems?

Many of our customers also ask to test their apps on beta versions. If you are a true head tester and have multiple devices for testing purposes, make sure that you update the devices that you use for beta testing always up to the newest beta version.

It is important to do so as the development of beta software moves rapidly and the issues reported in the previous beta version might not be adequate anymore in the new version. In the case of beta OS, separate consent from the TL is not required as we need to always test on the latest beta - so always make sure to keep your device OS and the information in the Platform updated.

You can update the beta OS information in the platform as shown in the GIF above, however, if you were the first (and the fastest πŸƒπŸ») one to install the beta OS and it is not yet available in the dropdown list, you can add it as a missing device.
