Automated testing requires scripters to perform activities such as writing the scripts, performing test execution, tracking defects, etc. In this article you’ll learn how to discover and build a team of scripters for your Workspace.
In Testlio we use Groups for organizing different work types (such as automated testing, localization testing, payments testing, etc). Groups help you discover Freelancers based on your testing strategies and approaches. Read more about the importance of Groups in our dedicated article.
Building a Group of Scripters
Group creation starts in the Teams module. To build a Group of Scripters you’ll need to:
Access Dashboard and choose to create a “New Group”.
In the Group creation view you’ll be able to start defining the requirements for the Freelancers by selecting different values from the filters.
You’ll find different types of filters such as location, experience, skills as well as automated testing specific filters such as test automation experience, frameworks, programming languages and tools. Using the filters in the Automation section you’ll be easily able to define the needs for your testing.
For example you might be looking for Scripters that have at least 3 years of automation experience, have used Appium and Selenium frameworks and tools such as Browserstack.
Click on the “Find Testers” button
Our algorithm will now recommend Freelancers that match your criteria and let you choose members from the list.
Freelancer Profiles
Sometimes you may want to look into the recommendations a bit deeper and understand the background of each Freelancer. To do so, click on the Freelancer name. A detailed profile will open showcasing the Freelancers’ skills, industries they are familiar with, apps they are regularly using, devices they own as well as their availability and much more. By opening the detailed Profile you’ll also see the badges below the Freelancer name to understand whether the Freelancer is performing both manual & automation testing or only one of those. (Please note that Rating is only shown for Freelancers who perform manual testing).
Editing Freelancer role in the Workspace
When inviting a Freelancer to the Group, they will be invited into a “Tester” role by default. To change the role from “Tester” to “Scripter”, access the All members view in the Teams module, click on the three-dot icon near the Freelancer name and select “Change role”.
Inviting a Scripter to a Workspace directly
It might happen that you already have experience with some of our Freelance Scripters that you would like to include in another Workspace directly. To do so, please follow our “Adding a Freelance Tester directly to the Group” guide.
