As a tester, you need to install and test builds that have not yet been publicly released on the Android Play Store. So downloading and installing APK builds to your Android device is an essential skill to have.

This article explains how to download and install APK builds to your Android device directly from the Testlio Platform.

The following guideline is a requirement for our freelancers. Failure to follow the guideline might represent a breach of the Freelancer Services Agreement.

Builds (including access links and metadata) are confidential information and you must not disclose them to any third party.

Download an APK build

An APK build can only be downloaded once your Test Run has started at the scheduled start time. Once the Run starts:

  1. Open the Workspace homepage and start the Test Run on your computer.

  2. Follow the flow to reach the Build Setup page.

  3. Download the APK build to your computer and transfer it to your Android device through a data cable.

Alternatively, download the APK build directly to your mobile device:

  1. Open the Testlio Platform directly in your device browser.

  2. Open the Workspace homepage and start the Test Run.

  3. Follow the flow to reach the Build Setup page.

  4. Download the build directly to your mobile device.

  5. The Testlio Platform is not fully optimized for mobile devices. So once the APK build has been downloaded, you need to return to the desktop to execute the Run.

Install the downloaded APK on your Android device

Once you have downloaded or transferred the APK build to your Android device, you can navigate to the folder which contains the build and follow the steps in the following video to install the APK.

After finishing testing

Once you have completed testing, delete the APK file and uninstall the application from your device.
