This article presents a requirement for our freelancers. Failure to follow the process might represent a breach of the Freelancer Services Agreement.
Time is our primary work delivery unit โ we sell testing hours, client services hours, and other types of services, all measured and billed for in time (see our task taxonomy for more).
Everyone is responsible for logging all of their hours each day before the end of the day. This ensures data is accurate within 24 hours, which allows our clients to always get the most up-to-date information. All logged work is immediately visible, allowing 24h accuracy in the Utilization Report that is available for Workspaces and Engagements.
Log work in Time App. Select the Workspace or Engagement, the tasks that were performed, the time it took to complete the tasks, and whether or not the work is billable. See the process in the following video.
Submitting Work
When To Submit
You should always submit work before midnight on the day when you do the work. If you start working on one day and finish the next, log the time done on the first day and on the second day separately. Work should always be logged on the day that it was done.
The day is counted based on your timezone so time submission is timezone independent. Submit your hours by the end of the day in your timezone.
Selecting a Workspace or Engagement
Whenever you do work for a single Workspace, you should submit it as part of that Workspace. If it affects multiple Workspaces for a single client, log it as part of the Engagement.
You can submit multiple entries for one client at a time. This simplifies logging while helping reduce instances of logging work under the wrong project.
Keyboard Shortcuts
You can complete the form using only your keyboard. Navigate between form items using Tab, find the right Workspace or task type by typing, navigate menus with arrows, confirm selections using Enter, and expand dropdowns using the spacebar.
Logging Work as a Test Lead
Only Test Lead work is to be logged using the Time App. All manual testing work that you do follows the process of tasks within the Testlio Platfom.
All Test Lead work you do should be marked as billable when submitting your work. This is the default option.
Editing Submissions
To review entries, click History to see the work you have entered for the past few weeks.
All time loggers can edit their entries 24h into the past. This includes correcting any mistakes that may occur in any field, including task type, hours, and whether or not the work is billable.
After the self-editing window passes, our remaining escalation process remains the same: If you are a Test Lead, contact your Testlio Testing Manager. If you are a Testlio employee, contact your manager.
Description Templates
To have a clear understanding of the work completed during each submitted task, use the following description templates as comments for all submitted tasks. Individual Workspaces may have their own requirements so consult your Engagement Manager for any specific details. You must include a comment with each submitted task.
The templates are grouped by task type based on the task taxonomy.
