The process listed in this article is not yet available in all workspaces.

Testlio conducts a lot of testing that needs to be completed in specific locations. Sometimes this means apps with features that change based on user location. Other times clients want to ensure an optimal experience for people around the world. Whatever the case, it’s important for Testlio to be able to verify the testing happened in that location.

This means certain tasks are only available to people in certain locations. To be eligible for these tasks, make sure to keep your location information in your profile up to date.

Update Your Location

When you join Testlio, you need to enter your location as in your residence (where you live). But it may happen that you are traveling or temporarily in a different location.

If your location in the Testlio platform does not match your current location, update it by following these steps:

  1. In the Testlio platform, open your profile.

  2. Next to the line with your location, click the ✏️ Edit profile button.

The Edit profile button on the profile for Flavio Akito.
  3. Under Location, enter your current location.

  4. Click Submit.

Your profile is updated with your location.

Accept Location-Specific Tasks

Testing location-specific tasks in a location that does not match the information in the Testlio platform represents a breach of the Freelancer Services Agreement.

Once you have your location in your profile, you may get invited to tasks that require people in your location. The invitation for such tasks has the requirement in it, as in this example:

You must be located in: Czechia

If you get an invitation with this requirement, only accept if you will physically be in the required location when you will execute the test.

Turn Off Any VPN

Before starting a location-specific task, turn off any VPN that you might be using. Location-specific tasks require you to test without a VPN. If you have a VPN on when you start such a task, you get a message telling you to turn the VPN off and refresh the page.

Verify Your Location

When you start a location-specific task, your location is verified. If it does not match the location in your profile, you get a notification of mismatch. If you believe this notification is an error, you can reach out to the email address provided.

If there are issues with the verification, reach out to your Test Lead for guidance. Only proceed with testing if you get approval from a Test Lead.

Respond to Location Mismatches

If your detected location does not match the location in your profile, start by contacting your Test Lead. They will have advice on immediate steps. If they advise you to continue testing, you may later be contacted by the compliance team. Please share with them any evidence you have to confirm your current location.
