Use the overview indicators in the Devices report to track the usage and distribution of devices across runs, categories, and manufactures. This section provides a breakdown of device usage and distribution, helping teams assess coverage, identify trends, and optimize testing resources.

Overview indicators for devices in the Testlio platform.

Indicator

What It Tracks

What Signals It Might Bring

Total Devices

The total number of devices used during the period, including multiple usages of the same device. Automatically compares with how many devices were used during the prior period.

A significant change in total devices used compared to the previous period indicates evolving testing needs.

Unique Devices

The number of unique devices used during the period. Automatically compares with how many unique devices were used during the prior period.

This indicator helps with monitoring the diversity of device coverage. It's good to compare with total devices.

A major gap between unique and total devices shows it's a good time to review your device pool and see if the team would like to increase coverage.

Average Usage per Device

The average number of times each device was used during the period. Automatically compares with average usage during the prior period.

This metric offers insight into device utilization efficiency.

If average usage is high, take it as a suggestion to consider broadening the scope of devices to ensure device coverage.

Devices Across Runs

The distribution of devices across individual runs.

This chart helps track device usage patterns over time.

Patterns in device usage across smoke, sanity, and regression runs can highlight coverage gaps or redundancies. Ensure devices are strategically selected to match each run's testing goals and scope.

Average, Minimum, and Maximum Devices per Run

The average, lowest, and highest number of devices used per run. Automatically compares with the values during the prior period.

These indicators provide a range of device usage metrics to assess variability.

Variability in device counts across runs (such as smoke, sanity, and regression runs) can signal gaps or over-coverage. Align device usage with each run's specific testing objectives to optimize coverage.

Most Used Devices

A list of devices that were used most frequently.

This list offers insight into heavily relied-upon testing resources. It helps ensure your strategy covers the devices that matter most. Review your priorities and confirm that the frequently used devices align with those prone to issues or needing extra attention.

Runs with Most Devices

A list of runs that involved the highest number of devices.

These runs might indicate regressions, new feature releases, or extra coverage needs. Review them to confirm they align with testing goals and priorities.
